Didata awaits finalisation of Convergence Bill

The ICT deregulation roadmap draft — which is on hold pending the finalisation of the Convergence Bill — will help Dimension Data clear the hurdles for future expansion in the country. Didata CEO Brett Dawson said as a result of the deregulation changes being introduced in the information and communications technology sector, the group stood "to benefit".

Air force to probe trainee pilot’s death

Allegations about the competence of a trainee pilot who died in an aircraft crash at the weekend were part of the inquiry into the matter, the South African Air Force (SAAF) said on Monday. SAAF spokesperson Captain Ronald Maseko was reacting to a newspaper report asking who would accept responsibility for the pupil pilot’s death on Saturday during a solo navigation training flight.

Honda introduces scooter for low-income earners

Naspers’ MIH to acquire 9,9% in Beijing Media

Dual-listed media and entertainment group Naspers announced on Monday that its subsidiary MIH will invest in the soon-to-be listed Beijing Media Corporation, a marketing and advertising sales vehicle for print media in China. MIH will buy 9,9% in the initial public offering of BMC, which will be floated on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange on December 22.

SA offers tax breaks to film studios

South Africa will offer about -million (R246-million) in tax incentives to local and foreign film companies over the next three years to promote the country as a prime filming location, the trade and industry minister said on Wednesday. Productions with budgets exceeding R25-million (-million) will qualify for tax rebates under the incentive programme.

Christopher Till, the director of the museum, said the gut-wrenching images and sounds were reflective of a tough history.
