Tiger casts a long shadow

Legend has it that, at the Dubai Classic two years ago, while playing a practice round, the world’s top golfers were boasting among themselves about their prowess and taunting each other about the eventual victor. World number one Tiger Woods was not billed to play, so it was open season for all the players to claim they could bag one of the richest tournaments on the golf tour.

I clearly misunderstood Marlise and, no doubt, the rules of the game. You see, Marlise had started and managed a successful electronic equipment business for nearly a decade in a neighbouring country and was trying to establish herself in South Africa. So through common contacts, she eventually identified the right entrepreneur she would want to partner with to create a BEE company — me!

Pulling the plug on the PAC

The wordsmith and realist Groucho Marx once said: ”Politics is the art of looking for trouble, finding it, misdiagnosing it, and then misapplying the wrong remedies.” It is sad that the Pan Africanist Congress has come to a dead end as a party. To protect the legacy of Robert Sobukwe and defend the honour of its history, the party must call it a day.
