<i>MAD</i> magazine is putting a last batch of original drawings of Alfred E Neuman and other early works up for auction.
AM Rosenthal, a brilliant, demanding editor who lifted The New York Times from economic doldrums in the 1970s and moulded it into a journalistic juggernaut known for distinguished reporting of national and world affairs, died on Wednesday at age 84.

Here lies the forgotten history of New York. And here. And over there. All across the city’s five boroughs, old cemeteries are tucked away, some visible but ignored by passers-by, some in the shadow of latter-day high-rises, some so remote as to be overlooked entirely.
