Black Caps crush England

Pace bowler James Franklin went from villain to hero as New Zealand kept their triangular series hopes alive with a 90-run win over England at the Adelaide Oval on Tuesday. The Black Caps did not look to have enough on the board when dismissed for 210 after winning the toss and electing to bat, but they bowled and fielded exceptionally well to restrict England to just 120 in reply.

Flintoff guides England to victory

All-rounder Andrew Flintoff lifted a jittery England to a drought-breaking three-wicket win over New Zealand in the triangular series one-day international on Tuesday. England were forced to work hard to beat New Zealand’s modest total of 205 and secure their first victory since arriving in Australia in early November.

Symonds ton leaves England at sea

In 2000, good mates Matthew Hayden and Andrew Symonds found themselves in the water struggling for survival after their boat capsized while fishing near Queensland’s North Stradbroke Island. On that occasion the determined pair swam more than a kilometre to shore and safety.

Australia were on the verge of regaining the Ashes after their batsmen, led by a devastating Adam Gilchrist, smashed England all over the park on day three of the third Test at an oppressively hot Western Australia Cricket Association ground in Perth on Saturday. The Australians declared late in the day at 527 for five.
