A study by an Israeli psychologist into the violent behaviour of the country’s soldiers is provoking bitter controversy and has awakened urgent questions about the way the army conducts itself in the Gaza Strip and West Bank. Nufar Yishai-Karin, a clinical psychologist at the Hebrew University, interviewed 21 Israeli soldiers and heard confessions of frequent brutal assaults against Palestinians.

A Kagiso man died when he was attacked by a rhinoceros at a Krugersdorp game reserve at 3pm on Saturday afternoon. ”I heard a man cry on the side where rhinos were. When I went to look, I just saw it throwing him in the air and mauling him,” said eyewitness Teboho Phalafala.

Mohammad Yousuf hit a brilliant century to lead Pakistan to a 25-run victory over South Africa in a day-night international in Lahore on Saturday and level the series 1-1. A dozen main districts of the Zimbabwean capital were without power for the fifth straight day on Saturday. The state electricity company blamed technical faults for the massive power failure. A power surge after load-shedding on Monday blew a main high-voltage supply cable, the Zimbabwe Electricity Supply Authority said.
