Shell resumes limited operations in Nigeria

Shell said on Saturday it has resumed limited operations in southern Nigeria after the explosion of a pipeline but warned it is still not in a position to honour its commitments to clients. ”One of our fields has partially reopened in Kolo Creek, and there is limited loading at Bonny,” a spokesperson said.

Injured Kemp ruled out of second Test

South African all-rounder Justin Kemp’s shoulder injury has ruled him out of the second cricket Test against Australia beginning on Monday at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. The world’s top-ranked batsman, Jacques Kallis, will play for South Africa after missing the drawn first Test in Perth last week with an elbow injury.

Bus plunges into icy river in China

A bus ran off a road in northern China into a freezing section of the Yellow River, leaving 28 people missing and presumed dead, official media said on Sunday. The accident occurred late on Saturday in Hanggin prefecture of the Inner Mongolia region, state-run China Central Television said.

Houses gutted by Cape Town fires

Fires raging on Table Mountain in Cape Town since Saturday were brought under control on Sunday morning, the city’s disaster-management services spokesperson John Brown said. Two houses had been totally gutted by late on Saturday night, three had been totally destroyed and at least six had suffered damage.

Titans chalk up superb victory
