Drogba torments Newcastle again

Chelsea striker Didier Drogba broke Newcastle’s hearts again as his superb late goal clinched a 1-0 League Cup quarterfinal win on Wednesday. Drogba had come off the bench to score the winner against Newcastle in the Premiership last week and he repeated the trick at St James’ Park.

Chelsea remain hot on Man United’s heels

Didier Drogba showed Chelsea will not give up the English Premiership title without a fight as his late goal clinched a 1-0 win against Newcastle on Wednesday. Jose Mourinho’s side are now five points behind leaders Manchester United and should have renewed belief they can overhaul Sir Alex Ferguson’s side after this hard-fought victory.

Mokoena expects great things from SA

Bafana Bafana captain Aaron Mokoena believes his country can make a big impact on and off the pitch when they host the 2010 World Cup. Although South Africa were beaten 1-0 by Egypt in the Nelson Mandela Challenge Cup in London on Wednesday, Mokoena was encouraged by his side’s determined display.

Solskjaer fires United to the top

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s double strike sunk Newcastle and put Manchester United on top of the English Premiership on Sunday. Solskjaer scored just before and after half-time to claim his first league goals at Old Trafford for over three years and take Sir Alex Ferguson’s side above champions Chelsea on goal difference.

Wenger tells Henry to use his head

Arsene Wenger believes Thierry Henry needs to start using his head before he can fulfil his true potential. Henry claimed his 50th goal in European football when he opened the scoring with a superbly taken header in Arsenal’s 2-0 Champions League win against Porto at the Emirates Stadium on Tuesday.
