Boxer fighting for his life

Leavander Johnson had worked a long time for his big night, 16 years to be exact. His first title defence turned tragic, however, leaving the veteran boxer in a fight that most with his kind of injury don’t win. Johnson was in a drug-induced coma on Sunday following emergency brain surgery he underwent just minutes after losing his lightweight title the night before.

Tyson’s career may be over with latest loss

Mike Tyson’s career apparently ended in yet another shocker on Saturday night when he quit on the stool after taking a beating in a foul-filled sixth round against unheralded Kevin McBride. Tyson lost for the third time in his last four fights, and once again he faded badly as the rounds went on before deliberately head butting McBride.

Heavyweight king of the world

Vitali Klitschko staked his claim to being the true heavyweight champion on Saturday, knocking Danny Williams down four times and giving him a savage beating before finally stopping him in the eighth round. He then dedicated the win to democracy in his native Ukraine.

Tyson: An accident waiting to happen

If all goes according to plan, and it rarely does when Mike Tyson is involved, the former baddest man on the planet will walk into a Phoenix gym sometime this week and begin hitting the speed bag. Or maybe he’ll walk into a Phoenix strip club and begin hitting on the dancers instead. He’s Mike Tyson, after all, so you never really know.
