The Zimbabwean government has now set its sights on foreign newspapers circulating in Zimbabwe. Officials are making threatening noises about foreign publications, including the Mail & Guardian, which they deem to be hostile to the ruling establishment.
May, so far, has not been a particulary good month for Zimbabwean Minister of Information Jonathan Moyo. Last week Moyo was jeered in Maputo at the headquarters of the Mozambican Journalists Union by a group of journalists who prevented him from addressing a press conference.

As fuel and food queues lengthened on Thursday structural faults in the latest Zimbabwe-Libya -million fuel deal were emerging. The Libyan government has reportedly stepped up pressure on Zimbabwe to offer more assets of greater value as guarantee for sustained fuel supplies.
