Media personality Stan Katz was not found guilty on two charges of assault against his ex-wife Philippa Sklaar at the Randburg Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday. Magistrate Stanley Mkhari found that there was a lack of evidence regarding the assault against Sklaar in 2001, after the state chose to close its case.

Media personality Stan Katz’s ex-wife, Philippa Sklaar, on Tuesday denied that she had exaggerated an assault on her to gain publicity for her new cookbook. Sklaar, a professional chef who now lives in America, was being cross-examined in the Randburg Magistrate’s Court where Talk Radio 702’s former chief executive, Katz, is facing two charges of having assaulted her in 2000.
About 100 Vodacom employees picketed at the company’s head office in Midrand on Friday, demanding recognition for the Communication Workers’ Union (CWU). ”For the past five or six years, we have been trying organise ourselves a mouthpiece. However, this is not happening because Vodacom has used tactics against us,” said Frith Selelo, a senior accountant at Vodacom.
