Canadian pathologist Michael Pollanen told the inquest into the death of Bob Woolmer that he couldn’t determine the cause of death of the Pakistan cricket coach who died during the World Cup in March. Pollanen testified on Monday that Woolmer wasn’t strangled, as police initially suggested.

A man was due to appear in court in London on Tuesday over the death of a South African rugby fan who was run over as he walked home after watching the World Cup final. Hugh Morton (34) was run over in the early hours of Sunday, after watching South Africa beat England at a pub in Wimbledon, south-west London.

A Durban motorist was shot on Tuesday while a second bullet narrowly missed another driver, paramedics said. ER24 spokesperson Derrick Banks said the motorists came under fire on the N2/N3 split, near the so-called Spaghetti Junction, after a car accident just after midnight.

New Zealand on Tuesday recalled all-rounder James Franklin and named wicketkeeper Gareth Hopkins as a batsman in a new-look one-day squad for next month’s trip to South Africa. Somali authorities on Tuesday released the local head of the World Food Programme, who was seized nearly a week ago when government forces stormed a United Nations compound in Mogadishu.
