The winds of change are blowing in the ANC. On the sixth floor of Luthuli House, secretary general Kgalema Motlanthe has removed all the paintings and decorations from the walls as he prepares to leave his office in three months. Neatly wrapped and folded in the corner, the destination of his decorations is unknown.

A fifth badly decomposed body of a woman has been found in a KwaZulu-Natal (KZN) sugar-cane field, police said on Thursday. ”We suspect the woman was about 18 to 35 years of age,” said police spokesperson Superintendent Zandra Hechter. The body was found on Thursday afternoon.

Three mass graves have been uncovered in the eastern Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) where a renegade general, government forces and rebel groups have clashed for weeks, a United Nations mission said on Thursday. ”We do not know the exact number of victims but there are several in each of the graves,” Sylvie van den Wildenberg, a spokesperson, said.
