Arsenal confirm transfer of Henry

Arsenal announced on Saturday they had reached an agreement with Barcelona for the transfer of France striker and club captain Thierry Henry. Barcelona vice-president Ferran Soriano said: ”We’re optimistic we’ll conclude the negotiations on Monday and we’ve told the player that too.”

Wallabies in search of a kicking coach

The Wallabies have yet to find a replacement kicking coach with time running out before September’s Rugby World Cup in France. Coach John Connolly has been forced to operate this season without a kicking coach after Ben Perkins resigned in protest at a contract offered to him by the Australian Rugby Union.

US forces tighten grip on Iraq city

United States soldiers tightened their cordon around al-Qaeda fighters holed up in the Iraqi city of Baquba on Saturday, advancing carefully through streets lined with roadside bombs and booby-trapped houses. ”We are enveloping the enemy into a kill sack,” said Command Sergeant Major Jeff Huggins.

Bulls start campaign on winning note

The Blue Bulls scored six tries to the Falcons’s three as the home side won their first Absa Currie Cup game of the seaon at Loftus Versfeld on Friday night by 43 points to 26. The bonus-point win for the home side didn’t produce anything for the courageous visitors who stood tall against a team that included nine players from Super 14 final.

Four die, 41 injured in Witbank accident

Four people died and 41 others were seriously injured when two trucks and a bakkie collided in Blinkpan outside Witbank, Mpumalanga police said on Saturday. Spokesperson Captain Leonard Hlathi said three of the people died on impact, while a fourth died on arrival at the Cosmos Hospital in Witbank on Friday morning.
