ICC to review role of match referee

The role of the match referee will come under scrutiny during an International Cricket Council (ICC) chief executives’ committee meeting in the United Arab Emirates later this week. The ICC’s executive board recommended last November that a paper be prepared following the Oval Test fiasco when umpires Darrell Hair and Billy Doctrove decided Pakistan had forfeited the match against England.

Tsotsi star’s case postponed

Award-winning Tsotsi star Presley Chweneyagae appeared briefly in the Pretoria Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday when his case was postponed to February 27. His lawyer, Shane Lowley, asked the magistrate for the postponement on the grounds that the defence had no documentation and statements to work with as his client was arrested the previous day.

Supercars still too slow at 300kph?

Many a motoring fan will swoon at the looks of a Porsche 911 Turbo, Bentley Continental GT or Ferrari F430 which come with performance figures closely matching those of a Formula One racing car. For some owners of such cars, however, a top speed of 300kph is still not enough with some tuning firms specialising in suping-up such supercars.
