Thai transvestites are often pretty enough to fool tourists into taking them home for the night, but the unwary visitor risks losing his wallet as well as his pride. Members of a transvestite gang have confessed to concealing strong sedative pills under their tongues and spitting them down the throats of their victims while kissing.

Agassi, Nadal quit Masters Cup

Andre Agassi lost 6-4, 6-2 to Nikolay Davydenko and then pulled out of the Tennis Masters Cup on Monday, less than an hour after second-ranked Rafael Nadal withdrew with an injured left foot. Agassi lasted one hour and 14 minutes against Davydenko and then told reporters he had to withdraw after aggravating an ankle problem.

Interact to foil prison gangs, says study

Increased interaction of warders with prisoners is important in pre-empting gang attacks and other gang-related activity in prisons, a study released on Monday reveals. The Department of Correctional Services is looking at issues such as staffing levels and the provision of equipment at a representative 36 prisons around the country.

No word from police on Leigh Matthews arrests

Police have refused to confirm reports of pending arrests linked to an unregistered mortuary in the Leigh Matthews kidnapping and murder case. In his trial, murderer Donovan Moodley denied keeping Matthews’s body on ice for several days before dumping it in a veld in Walkerville — despite expert evidence to the contrary.

Jo’burg loses Gay Games bid

Johannesburg’s bid for the 2010 Gay Games was as solid as a rock, but despite all the bid committee’s efforts, the Games will be hosted by Cologne, Germany. Disappointed members of the Johannesburg bid commission were in Chicago for the announcement and listened to the Federation of Gay Games decision on Sunday.
