Hurricane Wilma blows into Mexico

Hurricane Wilma battered deserted resorts along Mexico’s Yucatan peninsula with howling winds and torrential rain on Friday, toppling trees and power lines. The heart of the fearsome hurricane moved slowly on to the Mexican coast, and authorities have warned it could be one of the most dangerous storms in decades.

Not many surprises expected in Bok squad

Springbok coach Jake White is expected to stick mostly to the tried-and-tested when he names a 28-man squad to tour Argentina, Wales and France next month, although one shock could be in store. Google shares hit record high

When Google commanded per share in its August 2004 initial public offering, the prospect of the stock quadrupling in less than 15 months ago seemed inconceivable. It doesn’t appear far-fetched now: Google’s shares hit a new all-time high early on Friday, rising by ,69 to ,89 in morning New York Stock Exchange trading.

ANC bemoans lack of free, diverse media in SA

For all the achievements of the past decade, the struggle for a free media continues, the African National Congress said on Friday. The country marked Media Freedom Day this week, and the challenge is to build a robust, free and diverse media at a time when the market, not the state, is posing the greatest threat to media freedom, the party said.
