Police responding to an alarm at a cash-advance business in Darlington, South Carolina, say they found a naked man hanging from the ceiling. An officer answering the alarm noticed tiles, insulation, wires and metal braces hanging from the roof and on the floor of the Check ‘n Go, Police Lieutenant Danny Watson said.

Robert J Aumann, an Israeli-American citizen, and American Thomas C Schelling on Monday won the 2005 Nobel Economics Prize for using game theory to explain conflict resolution. Using game theory, the laureates focused on why some people and countries manage to cooperate, while others suffer from conflict.

Conservative leader Angela Merkel said on Monday she will be the next chancellor of Germany at the head of a coalition uniting the country’s two main parties, and will focus on reviving the economy. The man accused of murdering missing constable Frances Rasuge laid a charge of conspiracy to commit murder against her after he was told she wanted him dead, Mmabatho Circuit Court heard on Monday. In previous testimony, William Nkuna told the court he had believed Rasuge was incapable of ordering his death.

The wage strike at retail chain Clicks, owned by listed health and beauty group New Clicks Holdings, entered its fourth day on Monday with all Clicks stores open and operating as usual, Clicks said. Michael Harvey, brand leader of Clicks, estimated that 70% to 80% of staff within the bargaining unit in Gauteng remained away from work through Monday.
