Somali pirates have lowered their ransom demand and are ready to free 47 Taiwanese, Chinese, Indonesia, Filipino and Vietnamese crew on three Taiwan fishing boats as soon as the ransom has been paid. The three Taiwan tuna trawlers were seized by Somali pirates at the port of Kismayo on August 16 as they were picking up a fishing licence.

American John Rollins carded an eight-under-par 63 and is among five players tied for the lead after Sunday’s third round of the ,5-million PGA Deutsche Bank Championship. Sweden’s Carl Pettersson, Jason Bohn, Billy Andrade and Olin Browne are tied with Rollins at 10-under 203.

The organising committee has been talking to communities, crocodile experts, farmers and the appropriate authorities about crocodiles living in the Valley of a Thousand Hills.

Listed South African glass company Consol on Monday reported a 4,6% increase in headline earnings per share to 109,7 cents for the financial year ended June 2005, from 104,9 cents. A final dividend of 39 cents per share was declared. Revenue increased by 6,1% to R2,2-billion, while gross profit rose to R830,7-million.

Opec president Sheikh Ahmad Fahd al-Sabah reaffirmed in Kuwait City on Sunday the cartel is producing 30,4-million barrels per day (bpd), one million bpd over market needs, in a bid to curb soaring oil prices. He added there was one million bpd of over production in the market.
