A major Indonesian food manufacturer has secured a place in the <i>Guinness Book of Records</i> by producing the world’s largest packet and the largest serving of instant noodles. The giant packet, created by PT Indofood Sukses Makmur, was 3,4m long, 2,35m wide and 0,47m thick.

Back-to-back wins for Mickelson

Reigning Masters champion Phil Mickelson fired a one-over 73 on Sunday to capture the ,3-million Pebble Beach National Pro-Am, his second PGA victory in as many weeks. Mickelson beat Canada’s Mike Weir by four strokes and accomplished his first back-to-back and wire-to-wire victories on the tour.

Blackened skyscraper remains upright, but unstable

The skyscraper in Madrid’s business and financial district that was gutted by a weekend fire remained upright but unstable on Monday with a large construction crane still perched on the roof atop the building’s blackened frame. ”Don’t Fall Down,” read the front-page headline on the free newspaper Que passed out to morning subway and bus commuters.

Michael Owen goal helps Real Madrid to victory

Michael Owen and Ivan Helguera scored three minutes apart late in the second half and Real Madrid rallied past Osasuna 2-1 on Sunday to give coach Vanderlei Luxemburgo a record seventh straight victory since taking over the club. The victory on a wind-swept field kept Madrid four points behind Spanish league leader FC Barcelona.

Lightning-fast win for Roddick

Andy Roddick can forget his frustrating finish in the Australian Open. The top-seeded Roddick played a near-flawless first set and breezed to a 6-0, 6-4 victory over unseeded Cyril Saulnier of France in 50 minutes to win the SAP Open in the fastest final on the ATP circuit thus far this season.
