Slimmer Clarke back on course

Twelve months ago, Darren Clarke shot an opening round six-under 66 to find himself leading the Masters. He followed that with a 76 and 78 and closed with a 74 to end tied 28th. The 35-year-old Ulsterman left Augusta National annoyed with himself but determined to get himself fighting fit.

Sweeping changes for Stormers

Stormers coach Gert Smal has made sweeping changes to his side for Saturday’s Super 12 match against the Reds in Brisbane. Flyhalf Chris Rossouw, left wing Pieter Rossouw and hooker Pieter Dixon are all back from injury to take their respective places that were filled by Gaffie du Toit, Gus Theron and David Britz.

Aristide interior minister arrested

The former interior minister under ex-president Jean Bertrand Aristide, Jocelerme Privert, was arrested on Tuesday in Port-au-Prince and taken to prison, a police spokesperson said. Privert was wanted in connection with a massacre in the town of Saint Marc in February by forces loyal to Aristide.

Six SA soldiers die in DRC accident

Six South African soldiers serving in a peacekeeping mission in the Democratic Republic of Congo were believed killed in a road accident near Goma on Tuesday, the South African National Defence Force said. It is believed the troops were travelling in a Casspir vehicle, which swerved off the road and plunged into Lake Kifu.
