Land deal sets precedent

An out-of-court settlement between a farm owner and an occupant in Grahamstown recently is certain to attract attention from stakeholders rural reform policies. It is the first time that the Legal Resources Centre has handled a case in which there was ”such a favourable outcome” for the evicted occupant.

Springboks thump Falcons

The Springboks showed they could yet cause an upset or two at this year’s Rugby World Cup after putting in an impressive performance to defeat the Falcons 74-0 at the Pam Brink Stadium in Springs on Tuesday evening. The Boks ran in 14 wonderful tries, at times showing silky handling skills.

Slain Williams sister buried

The slain sister of tennis stars Venus and Serena Williams was buried on Friday in a private ceremony. Yetunde Price was gunned down on September 14 in the crime-ridden Los Angeles suburb of Compton, not far from where her two youngest sisters first played the game that would rocket them to international fame.

Birmingham get the blues

Premiership sides Birmingham and Fulham have been dumped out of the English League Cup by lower league opponents. Second Division Blackpool beat Birmingham 1-0 and First Division leaders Wigan defeated Fulham by the same scoreline as both Premiership visitors fell at the first hurdle.
