When the fat lady dances

Undertakers in Harare are apparently doing a thriving trade renting out corpses to would-be fuel queue jumpers. There are no reports of arrests and prosecutions for this macabre practice. But then again, since everything else is so haywire in Mugabeland, maybe this is perfectly legal.

If you go down to the woods today …

Canadians are a restrained lot. When they get angry, they go to a symphony and stew in the cheap seats. When they get really angry, for instance when they encounter racial intolerance or impure maple syrup, they go to a symphony but decline to buy a programme. But when they’re really mad, they head to the woods.

M&G wins again

M&G journalist Wisani wa ka Ngobeni received another top award this week. He was the winner in the print news category of the Vodacom Journalist of the Year Awards 2003 (northern/southern region). The story was ”Shadow falls on Lekota”, detailing Defence Minister Lekota’s hidden business dealings.
