Where are the young voters?

The Independent Electoral Commission has set aside the weekend of November 8 and 9 for voters to register for the 2004 elections. The commission is faced with the challenge of getting young voters interested, with only 1% of those aged 18 to 19 on the voters’ roll.

Armscor money woes continue

Armscor chairperson Fani Titi and CEO Sipho Thomo have both lamented the corporation’s embattled financial position in its latest annual report, tabled in Parliament on Thursday. The corporation is struggling to achieve its goals and has suffered staff losses.

It is no secret that South African tourism is booming. In 2002 our country emerged as the best performing tourist destination in the world, attracting 6,4-million tourists. Overseas arrivals were up a massive 20,1%, with a healthy 11,1% increase in total foreign arrivals for 2001.
