Five petrol stations were robbed of money and petrol within two hours in Pretoria on Wednesday night by two men who posed as customers, Tshwane metro police said on Thursday. Police said two men driving a white Ford Bantam went to the five service stations and asked petrol attendants to put petrol in the vehicle’s tank.

The Premier Soccer League disciplinary hearing involving various charges against Orlando Pirates and specifically midfielder Isaac Chansa was postponed on Wednesday night after it was revealed that the indictment against the Zambian international midfielder had been changed to assault.

Nuggety Clive Barker, who will indelibly be remembered for guiding Bafana Bafana to the African Nations Cup title on home soil in 1996, was on Wednesday unceremoniously removed from his position as head coach of Amazulu. Barker has confirmed he no longer occupies the position at Amazulu.

Top Bafana Bafana striking prospect Katlego Mphela has rejoined Supersport United after his ambitions to forge a career in France with Strasbourg took a nose dive. Mphela played with a fair amount of success for Supersport last season while on a loan basis from the French club.

Fidel Castro has failed to appear at the start of his delayed week-long birthday celebrations, igniting fresh speculation about his health and disappointing an A-list of Latin American celebrities and politicians invited to Cuba.
