Two South African-based trade unionists were deported from Zimbabwe on Wednesday, the Zimbabwean Congress of Trade Unions (ZCTU) said. ”The two … were deported soon after arriving at the Harare International Airport at 12.30pm,” said ZCTU secretary general Wellington Chibebe.

Diversified mining group Kumba Resources is willing to participate not only in the financing of rail infrastructure but also the operation of the rail system for the transport of its iron ore and coal products, if necessary. If Kumba does get involved in the financing, it will result in an adjustment to the rail tariff it pays, Kumba CEO Dr Con Fauconnier said.

South African iron and steel producer Ispat Iscor on Thursday reported basic headline earnings per share of 1Â 019 cents for the year ended December 31 2004, from 360 cents a year ago. A final dividend of 100 cents per share was declared from 75 cents a year earlier, making a total for the year of 400 cents from 175 cents a year ago.
