Terblanche scores key try for Sharks

Stefan Terblanche scored the try that sealed the Sharks’ 17-10 win over the Western Force in their Super 14 match in Durban on Friday. Fullback Terblanche, who was not in the 22 named for the match, was called into the team when French flyhalf Frederic Michalak withdrew with a calf injury.

ANC to exit Eskom deals

In an about-turn signalling a fresh approach to party funding by the African National Congress’s (ANC) new leadership, party investment company Chancellor House will exit two multibillion-rand contracts with Eskom. The ANC company’s stake in the contracts to build boilers for two new Eskom power stations is worth an estimated R5,8-billion.

DA: ANC subscribes to the ‘big-lie’ theory

The African National Congress (ANC) is subscribing to the ”big-lie” theory, the Democratic Alliance (DA) said on Thursday. ”The ANC subscribes to the theory that if the ”big lie” is repeated often enough, then people will believe it, and reality can be shaped by the ruling party,” the DA’s Gauteng provincial safety spokesperson, James Swart, said.

ANC Youth League meets traders on liquor ban

The African National Congress Youth League (ANCYL) met the South African Liquor Traders’ Association (Salta) in Johannesburg on Wednesday to discuss a proposed liquor ban on Sundays. The league proposed to ban Sunday liquor sales after its annual national executive committee’s lekgotla (meeting) two weeks ago.

ANC rejects opposition calls for a new govt

The African National Congress (ANC) has rejected the call made on Tuesday by the Democratic Alliance for Parliament to be dissolved and new elections held, as well as the call made by the Independent Democrats for the government to resign. A statement issued by the ANC on Wednesday said: ”We believe that such calls have no merit.”
