Mokoena relishing Scotland battle

South Africa captain Aaron Mokoena said on Tuesday he loves a British-style physical contest on the pitch and reckons his experience in England will serve him well against Scotland. The Blackburn Rovers defender is set to lead out Bafana Bafana against the Scots at Pittodrie on Wednesday in a warm-up game for both sides.

Britain’s Blair faces last electoral test

Prime Minister Tony Blair faced the final electoral test of his decade in power on Thursday, a vote that could set Scotland on course for a referendum on independence from Britain. Blair’s Labour Party is expected to suffer heavy losses in the elections to local councils, the Scottish Parliament and Welsh Assembly because of discontent over the Iraq war.

Fifteen killed in accident in the Eastern Cape

Fifteen people were killed in a head-on collision between a taxi and a bakkie on the R61 near Aberdeen in the Eastern Cape on Monday morning, police said. Inspector Stephanie Smith said the drivers of both vehicles were among the dead. Twelve people were injured and were being treated in the Aberdeen hospital and the Midland hospital in Graaff-Reinet.
