United States television network NBC will start offering limited free downloads of shows such as Heroes and The Office as part of its bid to expand the digital distribution of its programmes and compete with Apple’s iTunes Store, the network announced.
Eustace Lycett, who spent more than 40 years bringing fantasy and magic to Disney films through special effects and won two Academy Awards, died on November 16. He was 91. Lycett died at a Fullerton nursing home, the Walt Disney Company said in an announcement after learning of his death.

Rapper Snoop Dogg was arrested for investigation of illegally possessing a handgun and drugs as he left NBC Studios after performing on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, police said. The 35-year-old rapper and two members of his entourage were arrested around 6pm on Tuesday after a search of his Diamond Bar home and car, Sergeant Kevin Grandalski said.
Hours before the judge in the Michael Jackson case was expected to rule on whether comedian Jay Leno can tell jokes at the singer’s expense, The Tonight Show host found a way to slip in a quip without opening his mouth. After arriving ”late” for the taping of Thursday’s show, Leno stepped out of a black limousine wearing SpongeBob SquarePants pyjamas.
