Untroubled De La Hoya outpoints Forbes

Multiple world champion and overwhelming favourite Oscar De La Hoya registered a unanimous decision victory over fellow American Steve Forbes in a non-title bout on Saturday. In a high-paced 12-round contest at the Home Depot Centre, De La Hoya dominated with his nimble footwork, sharp jabs and telling combinations.

Concacaf champions Mexico lose to SA

Defending champions Mexico lost a Concacaf Gold Cup game for the first time since 2002, dropping a 2-1 decision to South Africa in a first-round game on Friday night. Philip Evans and Elrio van Heerden scored for South Africa, who dealt Mexico just their fourth loss in the competition since the tournament began in 1997.

Agassi bolsters his country’s Davis Cup hopes

Andre Agassi is still able to carve out time to play for his country. Agassi, a member of three United States Davis Cup champion teams, will join Andy Roddick and the doubles team of Mike and Bob Bryan as they try to end the US’s losing streak. The US face Croatia in the opening round in Carson, with matches beginning on Friday.
