Wladimir Klitschko beat Lamon Brewster with a technical knockout after six rounds to successfully defend his IBF and IBO heavyweight titles on Saturday. The Ukrainian clearly dominated the first five rounds, making repeated contact with his strong left jab that largely went unanswered.

Man cuts off own head with chainsaw

A man cut off his own head with a chainsaw after stabbing his 70-year-old father to death in their apartment in the German city of Cologne, police said on Tuesday. The body of the offender (24) was found headless when police raced to the apartment Monday after an emergency call, apparently from the dying father, had been broken off in mid-sentence.

Owen injury: Eriksson’s worst fear becomes reality

Sven-Goran Eriksson’s worst fears have been realised after the cruel injury to Michael Owen that has seriously depleted England’s already threadbare attacking options. Owen is expected to be ruled out of the World Cup later on Wednesday after twisting a knee in the first minute of England’s 2-2 draw with Sweden at the Rhein Energie Stadion.

England settle for draw against Sweden

England finally got a result against Sweden it can live with. No, not a win — that has been too much to ask for. A 2-2 draw on Tuesday, however, was enough for the English to win Group B at the World Cup. Henrik Larsson tied it off a throw-in, getting the slightest touch to deflect the ball into the net in the 90th minute.
