Music to Parreira’s ears

The belated, but soothing pronouncement from Bafana Bafana administrative manager Sipho Nkumane on Tuesday night that ”all the players are now in camp” must have sounded like music to the ears of coach Carlos Alberto Parreira. The last three players to arrive were Everton midfielder Steven Pienaar, Maccabi Haifa fullback Tsepo Masilela and Bloemfontein Celtic’s Tumelo Nhlapo.

Giggs leads United pursuit of Arsenal

Ryan Giggs’s 100th league goal saw Manchester United on the way to a 4-1 win against bottom-of-the-table Derby County to keep up the pressure on Premier League leaders Arsenal on Saturday. Victory at Old Trafford, where Carlos Tevez scored either side of halftime, left second-placed United a point behind the Gunners

Everton boss hopes Moyes won’t quit just yet

Everton boss David Moyes is hoping striker Duncan Ferguson will see out the rest of the season. Moyes recently admitted the 34-year-old striker is considering whether to hang up his boots early in the new year. Ferguson is contracted to stay at Goodison Park until the end of the season, but has been struggling with his fitness.
