‘Bird strike’ shuts down kulula flight’s engine

A kulula.com passenger aircraft was forced to turn back after a bird flew into an engine during a Durban-to-Cape Town flight on Wednesday. Airline spokesperson Glenda Zvenyika confirmed that a ”bird strike” occurred on flight MN702, 15 minutes after taking off from Durban. The captain had to shut down the engine.

More SA flights experience technical difficulties

A flight was cancelled and another turned back when planes experienced technical difficulties on Friday. A 7.30am kulula.com flight — heading from Johannesburg to George — was cancelled after a fault with the aircraft’s public-announcement system was found, said Comair spokesperson Glenda Zvenyika.

Airline crew members make a defiant splash

A number of kulula.com crew members went on a tongue-in-cheek swimming outing on Wednesday. The outing was an ”act of defiance against the bizarre claim by the Labour Department that kulula.com doesn’t hire crew who cannot swim”, said Comair spokesperson Glenda Zvenyika.
