The attempted murder case against former Springbok rugby player James Dalton was struck from a Pretoria court roll on Monday. He can now only be prosecuted again for this alleged offence once the state is issued with a certificate from the National Director of Public Prosecutions.

Former Springbok hooker James Dalton, accused of attempting to murder his wife, Andrea, appeared briefly in the Pretoria Regional Court on Friday. Dalton (35) was arrested in November after he handed himself over to the Boschkop police, about a week after his wife had laid the charge.

A case of attempted murder has been opened against former Springbok hooker James Dalton following an alleged incident against his wife Andrea, the Pretoria News reported on Tuesday. Dalton allegedly tried to drown her in a bath, smother her with a dress and threatened her.
