Cricket Australia chief James Sutherland has lashed out at against racist comments directed at Muslim leg-spinner Fawad Ahmed.
The Pakistan Cricket Board on Tuesday settled a row with the head of the Australian board over comments he made in the wake of a spot-fixing scandal.
Cricket Australia has played down reports that retired leg-spinner Shane Warne could return to international cricket for next year’s Ashes tour of England. The former leading Test wicket-taker, who quit the international arena after Australia’s 5-0 victory over England in early 2007, was quoted in local media as saying he would consider returning for the next Ashes series.

International Cricket Council chief Malcolm Speed said on Thursday the organisation accepted the blame for the administrative blunder that enabled Indian spinner Harbhajan Singh to escape a stiffer penalty in his racial-abuse case. Harbhajan’s three-Test suspension for allegedly racially abusing Australian Andrew Symonds was overturned on Tuesday.

India’s cricketers arrived in Canberra on Wednesday hoping to put the drama of the past week behind them and resume playing after being cleared to continue their troubled tour of Australia. The tour was suspended for two days when the Indian board ordered the players to remain in Sydney.
Australia captain Ricky Ponting has been urged to hold peace talks with Indian skipper Anil Kumble to try and resolve the escalating crisis between their teams. Cricket Australia chief executive James Sutherland wants the rival captains to hold a private meeting to avert any threat of the tour being cancelled as tensions threaten to boil over.
