The Johannesburg High Court has opened the way for former bouncer Gary Beuthin to be freed on bail. The court set aside the Correctional Services Department’s decision to revoke Beuthin’s parole. It also ordered that he be transferred ”with immediate effect” to Johannesburg prison’s Medium A section for awaiting trial prisoners.
The state attorney’s office came under fire in the Johannesburg High Court on Tuesday for its handling of an application by attempted murder accused Gary Beuthin for a restraining order against prison authorities for alleged intimidation and victimisation.
Former bouncer Gary Beuthin and his two co-accused will go on trial in the Johannesburg High Court on October 20 for attempted murder and kidnapping. Beuthin (43) and his co-accused, Melanie van Nierkerk (31) and Warren Schertel (34), were formally served with a high court indictment in the Randburg Magistrate’s Court on Friday.

Clutching an exam pad and diary, former bouncer Gary Beuthin took notes from almost the instant he stepped into the Randburg Magistrate’s Court on Thursday. Wearing a grey and white T-shirt, blue tracksuit pants and shackles at his ankles, Beuthin seemed to scan the court for supporters as he walked in.
