At least 40 Johannesburg metro police officers face disciplinary action for the June highway shooting clash with the SAPS, it has been reported.
Operation Juggernaut netted 39 road offenders with outstanding traffic fines and 27 illegal immigrants, Ekurhuleni metro police said on Sunday. Spokesperson Superintendent Vusi Mabanga said the arrests were carried out between 7am and 11am on Sunday.
Heavy rains, cold weather and strong winds will continue in Gauteng for the rest of the week, the South African Weather Services (SAWS) said on Sunday. This was due to a cold front passing through the area, said SAWS forecaster Evert Sholtz. He said rain and heavy winds would continue on Sunday and Monday would see strong winds blowing throughout Gauteng.
Johannesburg Metro police said on Tuesday they had not tested Kwaito star Mandoza for driving under the influence of alcohol after an accident on Saturday because he was being treated at the scene by paramedics. Two people were killed when Mandoza smashed into the back of their car.
