Uganda’s leading independent newspaper began publishing again on Thursday, after being closed for a week by the government for reporting that a military helicopter was shot down by rebels.
Uganda’s leading independent newspaper, The Monitor, was back in circulation on Friday after a week-long closure by the government because it reported that a military helicopter had been shot down by rebels fighting the government in the northern part of the country.
Ugandan troops killed 28 fighters of the rebel Lord’s Resistance Army (LRA) and lost four of their number during clashes in the north of the country on Monday evening, a military officer said on Tuesday.
