A German court was on Friday due to pass its verdict on a self-confessed cannibal who killed and ate a man he claims was a willing victim. Armin Meiwes (42) faces a life sentence if convicted of the murder of the other man, who had responded to his advertisement on the Internet for someone prepared to be consumed.

A German court was set on Monday to view video tapes showing how a self-declared cannibal killed, cut up and ate his victim. The second day of the murder trial of 42-year-old Armin Miewes began in Kassel with evidence to be given by police who visited the crime scene.
A shame-faced surgeon faced manslaughter charges before a court in Germany on Tuesday for removing a healthy lung instead of a cancer-riddled one from a patient who later died as a result of the blunder.
