Three-time major champion Nick Price of Zimbabwe has criticised International captain Gary Player of South Africa for a last-minute offer of an assistant captaincy at last month’s Presidents Cup. Price was upset at an 11th-hour move that ended up with Australian Ian Baker-Finch repeating as Player’s assistant for the global squad.

Lucas Glover holed out from a bunker at the 18th on Sunday to claim a stunning one-stroke victory in the ,4-million Funai Classic. Outlasting a strong field and some trying weather earlier in the tournament, the 25-year-old carded a seven-under-par 65 in perfect scoring conditions on the Magnolia course to finish at 23-under 265.

World number one Tiger Woods appeared headed for a rare early exit when play was halted for the day on Friday after a rain delay in the second round of the ,4-million Funai Classic. Woods had two holes to play when the round was suspended, and almost surely needed a birdie-birdie finish to make the cut projected to fall at six-under.

World number one Tiger Woods returns to the Funai Classic after skipping the event last year, but Hurricane Wilma could wreak havoc at the star-studded event that starts on Thursday. Woods won the tournament in 1996 and followed it up with an encore in 1999.
