Incredible inks

If you thought that digital killed the printed photo, you’re mistaken, says Hewlett Packard (HP). Following poor performance and upheavals in management recently, the IT consumables giant has unveiled its latest strategy in capturing the imagination, and the dollars, of the image-capturing generation: the Vivera ink range. The inks give colour photos a new lease on life — around 108 years, according to HP.

Nifty, but tough on the thumb

While I’m all in favour of innovative and intelligent design evolution, I’m utterly baffled as to what the Siemens designers were thinking when they put together the new SX1 cellphone. First impressions rouse a few oohs and aahs, but upon closer inspection, there is absolutely nothing practical, nor ergonomic, about this little number, and one runs a real risk of dislocating one’s thumb trying to punch out an SMS in a hurry.

Don’t say cheese! Say trees!
