AC Milan will play in the Champions League this season. The six-time European champions, who had been barred from Europe’s top club competition by an Italian sports tribunal investigating the country’s match-fixing scandal, will face either Ireland’s Cork City or Serbia’s Red Star Belgrade on August 8 or 9 in the third qualifying round.

Manchester United forward Wayne Rooney will miss the next two Champions League matches after being sent off at Villarreal last week. Uefa said on Tuesday that the 19-year-old England international will be absent when United hosts Benfica on September 27 and at Old Trafford against Lille on October 18.
Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho faces a Uefa hearing on Thursday for bringing the game into ”disrepute” and ”making false declarations”. If he is found guilty, Mourinho could face penalties ranging from a fine to a match ban, or even see Chelsea expelled from Europe’s richest club tournament, the Champions League.
