Three ATMs blown up in Gauteng

In a series of three ATM bombings in less than half a day in Gauteng, gangs of robbers on Friday morning made off with undisclosed sums of cash. In Strijdompark in Randburg, a Standard Bank ATM was blown up at the Motor City Centre, Gauteng police said. ATMs in Atteridgeville and Orange Farm were also targeted.

Three in court for Atteridgeville murder

Three men who were arrested in connection with the killings of two foreign nationals in the Brazzaville informal settlement in Atteridgeville were expected to appear in court on Thursday. The investigating officer was busy preparing a docket and the three would appear on murder and damage to property charges in Atteridgeville Magistrate’s Court.

Mob burns two foreigners to death

A Zimbabwean national was among two foreigners who have been burned to death during an attack by a mob in a slum area close to the Pretoria, police said on Tuesday. The Zimbabwean was repeatedly assaulted before his attackers set fire to his shack in the Brazzaville settlement in Atteridgeville and then threw him inside, police spokesperson Patricia Simelane said.

Five men rob and burn victims with iron

Five men robbed a family at Hennopsriver in the Erasmia area, burning the mother and father with an iron. Constable Patricia Simelane said the men demanded money — saying that they had been told there was money in the house — and ”they burnt the mother and father with an iron three of four times on the upper body”.
