Proteas upbeat ahead of second Test

South Africa are confident of burying India’s spin threat yet again with a determined batting performance in the second Test starting in Ahmedabad on Thursday. The visitors kept the spin duo of Anil Kumble and Harbhajan Singh at bay in the drawn opening Test in Chennai as they posted 540 in the first innings and 331-5 in the second.

Kirsten offered India coaching job

Former South Africa batsman Gary Kirsten said on Tuesday he has been offered the job as India coach. ”They have offered me the job,” Kirsten said from Delhi. ”I asked them for some time to consider it and they were very obliging, but it’s an extremely exciting prospect and, provided a few details can be worked out, I’m looking forward to the challenge,” he said.

Fireworks sparkle as India beat England

On a night of high excitement and fireworks both on and off the field, India beat England by 18 runs in their Twenty20 World Championship Super Eight match at Kingsmead, Durban, on Wednesday evening. Helped by a dazzling innings from Yuvraj Singh, India, who won the toss, made 218 for four in their 20 overs.
