The Road Accident Fund has received a cash injection of R1,3-billion from the National Treasury to help ease liquidity constraints.
The RAF on Friday received a roasting from Judge Jeanette Traverso over its plan to go over to a direct payment system.

The Supreme Court of Appeal has ruled that the Road Accident Fund treat women in customary marriages claiming support the same as those married under the Marriage Act (civil marriage). The director of the Women’s Legal Centre, Jennifer Williams, said on Wednesday the ruling was a victory for women married in terms of customary law.

A 42-year-old former attorney appeared in the Grahamstown High Court on Monday on charges related to the theft of R1,4-million from his trust account. He is alleged to have misappropriated an amount of R1 396 278 — paid to him on behalf of a client by the Road Accident Fund between December 2000 and May 2001.
