Police hunting the serial sniper issued an arrest warrant for a 42-year-old man they believe has information about the string of terrifying shootings that have left 10 people dead in the Washington suburbs.
A boastful phone call appears to have helped lead to just the break the desperate sniper task force needed. Apparently intent on proving his murderous credentials, someone called the sniper task force and urged police to check out an incident in ”Montgomery,”
officials said.
Police on Tuesday were waiting for a response to their plea to the Washington area sniper, who has killed nine people, wounded three, spread panic to millions and stumped investigators for nearly three weeks.
A growing number of officials said the state of Maryland should defer prosecution of the two sniper suspects to another jurisdiction where the death penalty could be more easily applied.
