High-profile trio Tyson Gay, Jeremy Wariner and double amputee Oscar Pistorius all suffered in the rain at Sunday’s IAAF British Grand Prix. Gay admitted he was unhappy with his performance after winning the men’s 100m. Pistorius was disqualified for running outside of his lane after trailing in last in 47,65 on the wet track.

Pistorius is fighting for the right to compete in the Beijing Olympic Games.
Hundreds of people were evacuated from their homes in northern England on Tuesday as officials warned a dam could collapse following severe flooding that has killed three people. A 68-year-old man and a teenager died in Sheffield and another man, in his 20s, was killed in Hull as torrential rain brought chaos to much of England and Wales.
Former world featherweight boxing champion Naseem Hamed was jailed on Friday for 15 months after pleading guilty to dangerous driving. The former WBO champ was sentenced at the city’s Crown Court by Judge Alan Goldsack, who also banned the 32-year-old Hamed from driving for four years.
Former double champion Ronnie O’Sullivan survived a second round scare before blasting Welshman Ryan Day out of the world championship with a late fightback on Monday. ”Rocket Ronnie”, who on Sunday scored the highest break of this year’s competition, was forced to briefly sweat against the Welshman who built on his 4-4 overnight draw.
