Heat exhaustion forces Wie to withdraw

Michelle Wie was taken to a hospital after withdrawing from the John Deere Classic with nine holes left on Friday, overcome by the conditions on a hot, humid afternoon, and left the course in an ambulance, getting fluids intravenously. Wie walked off the ninth hole on her own, but after talking with her parents said she couldn’t play anymore.

Rookie chalks up first US PGA victory

Sean O’Hair shot a six-under-par 65 on Sunday, holding off JL Lewis and Hank Kuehne to win the John Deere Classic for his first career United States PGA Tour victory. The rookie, who turns 23 on Monday and was making only his 18th career start on the American tour, finished with a 16-under 268.

Lewis extends lead at John Deere

JL Lewis shot a two-under 69 on Saturday, extending his lead to three strokes at 15-under 198 after three rounds of the John Deere Classic, earning all the attention following the elimination of 15-year-old Michelle Wie from the event. Hank Kuehne was at 12-under along with Richard S Johnson and Craig Bowden.

Wie fails to make the cut

Schoolgirl sensation Michelle Wie fell short in her bid to become the first female in 60 years to make a cut on the PGA Tour on Friday at the -million John Deere Classic. The 15-year-old prodigy appeared on her way to the weekend when she was derailed by a double-bogey at the sixth, her 15th hole of the day.

Big-hitting schoolgirl Michelle Wie will hope to take advantage of some notable absences this week as she takes on the men of the PGA Tour in the John Deere Classic. The 15-year-old amateur will make her third PGA Tour start when the -million tournament starts on Thursday at the TPC at Deere Run.
