Despite protests from environmental organisations, Japanese fishermen are currently conducting an annual dolphin hunt that kills thousands of the aquatic mammals. Hideki Moronuki, spokesperson for the Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries Ministry, said between 16 000 to 17 000 dolphins are killed.
