‘I told my people to run for their lives’

Firing guns into the air, attackers on camels and horses galloped into the dusty Sudanese village of Taringa four months ago, sending people fleeing for their lives and leaving a trail of destruction in their wake. The raid was similar to attacks on many other villages and towns in Sudan’s impoverished western Darfur province.
