All-Africa Games host Nigeria is coming under increasing pressure to return 11 gold medals won by its disabled athletes because it allegedly changed the eligibility rules to help its team. South African delegation chief Gogo Manqoyi also said she will ask the organisers to revoke some of Nigeria’s gold medals.

Swedish foreign aid agency Sida has pledged to contribute 45-million kronor (about R42-million) to bolster the United Nations’s efforts to deliver food in Southern Africa. A suicide bomber blew himself up in a car outside the Turkish mission in Baghdad on Tuesday, wounding two Iraqi security guards. The attack comes just a week after Turkey decided to send peacekeeping troops to Iraq despite strong objections from Iraq’s interim leadership.
